Nominees for the 2021-22 Chamber Board
Each fall the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce holds an election for new board members. Each board member is elected for a two-year term with staggered renewal dates. This year we are asking you to elect six (6) board members. Election ballots will be emailed to the main contact for your organization by Thursday, September 10. The Chamber uses a weighted voting system, based on your business's number of employees. Voting will close at noon Thursday, October 1. The influential board works with decision-makers at all levels of government to support our region’s business interests as well as maximize the value of membership with The Chamber. Christina Clarke
CEO, Songhees Development Corporation
Incumbent, Secretary
Christina Clarke is CEO of the Songhees Development Corporation for the Songhees Nation. She started with the Nation in 1995 after graduating from the University of Victoria with a BA in Canadian History and Anthropology.
Christina lead Songhees Nation’s implementation of the First Nations Fiscal Management Act laws in Canada and debenture bond issue by the First Nations Finance Authority. Christina has sat on the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority and the South Island Prosperity Partnership boards and the Mayor’s Task Force on Social Procurement and Social Enterprise. Christina is proud of her contribution to the planning and financing of the award-winning Songhees Wellness Centre. Christina has served on The Chamber's Board since 2018.

Judith Ethier

Judith Ethier is the Chief Administrative Officer for the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA), overseeing risk management, legal, finance, human resources, information technology, leasing, administration and governance for the Board of Directors. Judith’s role includes supporting and developing the strategic initiatives that will ensure the organization enjoys long term sustainability and growth.
Judith has been a resident of Victoria since 2017 and enjoys involvement within the community. In 2020, Judith took a role as a Board Member with the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce and sits on their Finance and Audit Committee.
Judith is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a CPCC designation, as a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach, where she enjoys working with individuals and organizations on strategic career and leadership development.

Ann Squires Ferguson is a true cross-pollinator, with twin degrees in Interior Design and Electro-Mechanical Engineering. She comes to the design industry via the Canadian Navy, where she specialized in shipboard weapons and the audio engineering field, with a focus on the Asian Karaoke market.
As CEO of Western Interior Design Group, Ann leads an all-female team specializing in Commercial Design + Build. An avid community connector, Ann is past chair of the Interior Designers Institute of BC, Vancouver Island Chapter; and has led Western’s engagement in multiple pro bono projects with local non-profit organizations, serving Cool Aid, Our Place, GVHS, the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Society and Habitat for Humanity. At home, Ann is a proud military spouse and parent of ten-year-old twins Daring and Danger.

Nic Green is an innovated financial strategist, economist, and seasoned consultant specializing in real estate. He is experienced with clients in real estate development, construction management, real estate valuation, community engagement, automotive and oil, financing, logistics, and insurance. He has worked closely with the municipalities and city governments in Victoria. A multi-discipline Swiss army knife, Nic has consulted and succeeded on many construction/development projects within the city, including ones involved in Victoria’s affordable housing initiative. He also advises in realty and community advisement and policy. Nic has spent the last 5 years consulting small and medium sized businesses adding hundreds of millions of dollars of value. Nic has been a member of The Chamber since 2020.

Bruce Hallsor
Managing Partner, Crease Harman LLP
Bruce Hallsor is the Managing partner of BC’s oldest law firm, and received his QC designation in 2016. Bruce has served on a number of corporate boards from small enterprises to ones with hundreds of millions in assets. Bruce is also an active volunteer in the community. He is a Scout leader and has been a soccer coach. He has also served on a number of community boards including the Salvation Army, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Saanich Police Board, the Monarchist League, the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, Workstreams Employment Society, 39th Service Battalion regimental Council, the Victoria Board of Variance, and several others.
Bruce’s firm is an original founding member of the Chamber and is a winner of the lifetime achievement award.

Moira Hauk
Regional Manager, South Island with Coastal Community Credit Union
Incumbent, Treasurer
Moira is the Regional Manager, South Island with Coastal Community Credit Union. Coastal Community is the largest Island based Credit Union with over 2.5 Billion in assets, and 24 branches on the Island.
Elected to The Chamber board in 2019, Moira serves as Chair of the Finance and Audit committee, and is on the Executive committee. Moira is The Chamber delegate to Destination Greater Victoria, and is a member of their Finance and Membership committee. Moira is also the Chair of Community Futures Cowichan.
Moira brings a regional perspective to The Chamber Board. Moira believes that as the business community restarts, The Chamber is well positioned to work with Government to support recovery and reinvention.
Regional Manager, South Island with Coastal Community Credit Union
Incumbent, Treasurer
Moira is the Regional Manager, South Island with Coastal Community Credit Union. Coastal Community is the largest Island based Credit Union with over 2.5 Billion in assets, and 24 branches on the Island.
Elected to The Chamber board in 2019, Moira serves as Chair of the Finance and Audit committee, and is on the Executive committee. Pedro Marquez holds a doctorate degree from the University of Calgary in Management and Political Science and is the Vice President Research and International at Royal Roads University. Pedro is an active member of the community serving numerous boards such as the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce (since 2019), South Island Prosperity Partnership, West Shore Chamber of Commerce and Vancouver Island Economic Alliance. An academic at heart, Pedro works closely with businesses and communities to capitalize opportunities and build synergies, both in Canada and in Mexico. His research is focused on corporate governance, international education, business ethics and NAFTA. Pedro considers regional economic and small business development as key issues for the future of the region.

Richard is a collaborative facilitator and highly responsive to client's needs. He excels at providing specified professional services from procurement to completion of each unique land development project. Richard's current community service includes: Member of Victoria Chamber of Commerce, President of Victoria Harbourcats Foundation, Commodore of Vancouver Island International Yachting Rotary (IYFR), Member of Victoria Foundation, Member of Victoria Inter-Cultural Association, Member of Victoria Rotary Club, Director Community Relations of Victoria Harbourcats Baseball Club.

During law school, he worked for government, small organizations, and not-for-profits all in Victoria. Since 2011, he has worked with Hutchison Oss-Cech Marlatt. He provides legal services to individuals and businesses in all matters of civil litigation before courts and administrative tribunals, focusing on solving problems practically and effectively. Since coming to Victoria, he has volunteered with local not-for-profit societies and associations as well as large provincial organizations. He considers the Chamber's Mixers and networking events indispensable to learning about Victoria.

Paul van Koll is a Partner at Dusanj & Wirk with over a decade of experience providing accounting, assurance and taxation services to owner-managed businesses, individuals and not-for-profit organizations as a CPA, CA. He obtained his Commerce degree from the University of Victoria and is proud to call Victoria home.
Paul is the Mentorship Lead for the Chamber’s Prodigy Group committee, and also sits on the Finance and Ambassador committees. He is currently the Treasurer for both the Family Business Association and Garth Homer Society and previously was the Vice President of the Greater Langley Chamber, serving just under 1,000 members.
Paul is excited to continue to make connections and bring new ideas to the board. Paul has served on The Chamber's Board since 2019.
