Four Victoria Chamber Policy Wins

May 27, 2013 – Victoria, BC – The Victoria Chamber celebrated four policy wins at the BC Chamber AGM in Nanaimo, BC this past weekend. The issues addressed in these policies are essential to the region’s businesses and community, and were endorsed by over 120 Chambers as provincial policy.

“We are thrilled to get provincial support for regional transportation, affordable ferry services, cost effective infrastructure and more clarity on the proposed National Marine Conservation Area,” says Darlene Hollstein, Chair of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber’s regional transportation policy addresses the need for a regional transportation authority in Greater Victoria; The Chamber’s ferry policy calls for action following the recent BC Coastal Ferries Consultation and Engagement; The Chamber’s infrastructure policy promotes the use of public-private partnerships; The Chamber’s National Marine Conservation Area (NMCA) policy calls for more information surrounding the cost of regulation and potential impacts of the proposed NMCA in the Southern Strait of Georgia.

The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, with approximately 1,500 members, is the voice of business for Greater Victoria and has received Accreditation with Distinction from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
